Firstly i have lost count how many times i have played through half life and half life 2.
This game has shaped my true outlook on gaming not because of its first person nature but more inline with the story environment and characters that really draws me in. Now i been a Massive fan ever since the first Half life came out oh so many years ago 1998 to be exact. the first opening scene of being on the monorail will remain as one of the best game openings ever. Valve always nail it with Half life saga the way it puts it off a movie and making the main character Gordon freeman not talk add to the immersion of being in that world.
Now let me take you back to 2003 half life 2 was announced at E3 and man i was excited. Half Life 2 has and always be my most hyped over game for so many years before that announcement i had been grabbing any news of the game and when it was reveled all the cylinders fired.2003 was rough a leaked copy was released pushing the game back till q4 2004 i was heart broken but i waited and waited a year rolled by no news nothing then close to November information overload screen shots videos everything i dream was coming alive in my face.
Then finally on November 16, 2004 the game was released. i stayed up all night for the midnight release on steam. i had the final countdown song playing and i was getting very excited. then all the sudden the game activated and i double click on Half life 2 and thus the story began of the best 2 days i will always remember.
Now for its time Half life 2 was the most groundbreaking in graphics and physics and gameplay. my rig was the best but the game still run pretty fine in the end with a little tweaking.
now i started a new game and one of the most strangest but fantastic opens began the title Half – Life 2 showed up and squealled like a little girl then even more awesome happened pictured below.
After Gman little chat he dumps your geeky arse on a train heading into who knows where the first two charters you meet on the train sum up what type of world you are in. scared, controled, dangerous, unsafe are a few things that came to mind and looking at the train and things rolling by outside add more depth to these thoughs
When the train stop the passenger says very unemotional “Well end of the line” when he said that i knew that this place we are in is up shit creek.
as i stepped out of the train im greeted with a flying pain the arse flashing robot scanner that blinds you and in the background you see a familar face from the original half life Dr Breen.
he almost comes of as a nazi type leader with his whole talk about its safer here blah blah blah but it adds to the overall tone the game is setting which draws you more.

As you walk around the station looking at the people you see it very much feels like a very policed state.
Now after some really cool events you move pretty fast jumping from one location to the next some of the people you meet on the way have quiet a impact on your choice and why you are on this journey
But my favorite thing in Half Life 2 is BURNNNING ZOMBIESSSSS!
Overall go out play Half Life 2 anyway you can and be prepared to be blown away it may look a little dated now compared to the new games on the block but it still is one of the best game you will ever play in your life time.
“It’s the Free Man”
stay tuned part 2 will be coming really soon.
